I love waking up every morning, commuting for 30 minutes and going to work!

My new job is amazing! Finally a job that is intellectually enriching and, most of all, challenging. My colleagues and I are all in the same age range and we have tons of fun and laughter every day. But the real reason what I like my job so much is that it is so challenging that it keeps me busy all day: I, for once, do not have to look at my watch waiting for 5 PM so I can get the heck out. Time goes by so fast that I did not even realize it's time to go home. I love it because it keeps my mind so busy that I do not have time to think about home, grocery shopping or any of the things I still have to do at home. I am so busy that time flies and before I know it I am home with my baby!
I have to give credit to my sweet husband though. because without his help and support I would not have been able to do it. He wakes up with our son every night so I can get some sleep, cleans and shops during the week every time he gets a chance, and makes sure I come home to a hot home made meal. He is really the best husband ever. I am so lucky. I truly feel blessed. I think it also has something to do with my prayers to saint Jude ( if you haven't done so already, start today, look up my post on St Jude's Novena) and to the help of Angel Michael and the prayers of the virgin Mary.
Thank God. I am exactly where I wanted to be. Thank God.

Praying for a job?

I just wanted to share my story with you guys and hopefully help anyone looking for a job.
After I quit my previous job in order to have my baby, I found myself dreading the time I would have to start looking for jobs again. And then, I found out about St. Jude Novena.
I read about many people that prayed to St. Jude and had their prayers answers, so I figured why not? I prayed for 9 Days and got a job offer on the 11th day!
What a relief!
I still cannot believe I got such an awesome with minimal efforts and in no time. So please, whether you are looking for a job, in a financial crisis, sick or in any other condition, pray to St. Jude. Just have faith and pray.
Here is the Novena to Saint Jude:

Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of difficult cases, of things almost despaired of, Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone.
Intercede with God for me that He bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly -
(make your request here)
- and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever. I promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor granted me by God and to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.
Amen

PRAYER

May the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, and loved in all the tabernacles until the end of time. Amen.

May the most Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised and glorified now and forever. Amen

St. Jude pray for us and hear our prayers. Amen.

Blessed be the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Blessed be the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Blessed be St. Jude Thaddeus, in all the world and for all Eternity.
(say this prayer, followed by the Our Father and the Hail Mary)

My new Blog

Please check out my new blog "Rabat Boston"!!!
I have just finished my first post :-) Let me know what do you think of it.
It is going to be a blog where I just vent out about how hard it can sometimes feel to be a wife, a mom, a daughter and a career woman, in short how hard it is to be a woman!!

Baby Fat

It is always around this time of year that I catch the shopping fever. And I do not mean gift shopping, because the only gifts I want to buy are usually for me!!

All those sales, decorations and glitter drive me crazy! The holiday season almost always creates in me a desire to dress up and look as fabulous as I can! However, this year, I will be doing more saving than spending…not that there is nothing I particularly like but more because there is nothing that fits!!!

The truth is that it is hard, almost impossible, to fit in anything other than maternity clothes when your belly is the size of a basket ball. Even shoes do not fit because my feet are ridiculously swollen.

I do not even bother shopping for makeup and creams because I am afraid to put anything on my face that might harm my baby. And my face is breaking out so bad that I do not even bother putting up any make up!

And while I am extremely happy having a baby, I just cannot wait for the pregnancy to be over! Let's just say pregnancy does not suit me that well at all: I have put on a bit more 40 pounds!!! (Yeah I know it's HUGE!!) And given that I am petite, the extra weight does not look cute on me at all!

Thus, I cannot wait to have my baby and try to get back to me minus the pregnancy weight! So stay posted if you too want to join me in my battle against pounds...Coming very soon, on time with the New Year!!!

Gina Penzarella: An inspirational success story

Last night, I came across a remarkable inspirational success story. It is the story of Gina Penzarella, the owner and Manager of Footlights Boutique in Easton, PA, and most of all, a modern woman who was not afraid to shoot for the stars.

The reason I found much inspiration in Gina's story is the fact that she started out just like me: a Marketing Graduate. It is stories like this one that keep me motivated to reach my potential; knowing that there are other strong-willed women, who started the same way and were able to get to where they wanted to be.

After graduating from Fordham University in New York City, Gina Penzarella worked in the fields of Marketing, Advertising and Customer-Service, thus gaining a strong knowledge of the consumer perception and the constantly changing market needs, so when opportunity knocked on her door, Gina was there to answer. As she identified a need for a specialized bridal boutique in the Lehigh Valley, Gina went ahead and opened Footlights Bridals, offering not only elegant wedding gowns, but also Prom and special occasion dresses. Gina Penzarella based her differentiation strategy around the concept of uniqueness: Her dresses and designs are one of a kind, matchless.

However, Gina's success did not keep her from giving back to her community, serving different charities and supporting many causes.

Now I am not sure that bridal could be my thing, but I am certain that when opportunity comes knocking at my door, I will be there to answer.

New baby...&...new Eyeglasses!!

I thought I had seen it all with my pregnancy; I thought I had explored every aspect of it, from symptoms to limitations.

That is until I went yesterday for my annual eye check up, only to find out that my eye vision has worsened. Not only did it become blurred, but my right eye eyesight has weakened. I was in total disbelief. I could not understand how my vision could get so bad in one short year, knowing that I wore my eyeglasses every single day and made sure I did not stare at my computer screen for long hours.

Well, as it turned out, my doctor explained that this may be another outcome of pregnancy. In fact, water retention, in addition to changes in hormones and blood circulation can affect sight.

Thus, my doctor suggested I keep using my usual eyeglasses, and maybe get a new pair, modified to correct my actual vision problems during pregnancy.

While I am not very happy about my vision weakening, I am more than exited to log in to eyeglasses.com and chose a brand new pair of eyeglasses, maybe even a Prada one! Nowadays, expecting moms are advised to stay active and try to keep fit. As a new prego myself, I’ve been taking this advice to heart. I try to walk daily, I still go to the gym (only once or twice a week I have to confess!), and I try to eat as healthy as my growing appetite allows.
I, however, used to think that I would have to give up my favorite activity, belly dance, for the next 9 months, thinking that all that belly and hip twisting would harm my baby, that is until my doctor gave me the green light and told me: please do, as long as it feels comfortable to you.
Apparently, some belly dance sequences are a wonderful exercise to facilitate birth as they help moms-to-be keep somehow of a flexibility and strengthen their lower muscles. I also heard some moms say that belly dance has helped them sooth back pains and leg cramps, while some used the slower motions as an alternative to yoga, as a mean to relaxation and breathing improvement.
So this morning, I gave it my first try, and I surprised to feel really comfortable doing it. I had expected belly and back aches, but NADA! On the opposite, I felt much energized as I could feel myself pumping fast. Dancing to the music made me for a little while forget about my growing belly and my forever aching feet.
Some pregnant women dance their way to the delivery room, while others stop at five, six or eight months. I think I am just going to trust my body and dance as long as my body permits.

Belly Dance Poll Stats:

So the poll is closed, and the stats are unanticipated!!
30% of the blog’s readers are professional belly dancers ;-). I haven’t even checked the blogs. However, I have an excellent excuse this time: I am becoming a mommy!!!!
Yeah, that’s what I have been busy with lately. Not that I had morning sicknesses or anything like that. It’s just that I couldn’t get enough sleep during the first months.
Anyhow, I am very happy being pregnant, even though this wasn’t thoroughly planned, and I couldn’t wait to share the news with you.
Thus, lately, I have gone from belly dance, fashion and novels to Nursery Décor, pregnancy books, baby clothing…and the other stuff that only moms to be find interesting. But I have to say that the baby market is a universe by itself: seriously, I think it is a very lucrative business. Take my example, how can I resist that cute little outfit, or how can I convince myself that it doesn’t really matter for my baby whether he rides on $1000 Stroller or on $250 one? I even feel guilty sometimes when I tell myself; it’s okay just get the cheap one, the baby is only going to use it for 3 months anyways; I feel like that’s not being a good mum-to-be!
I got myself a book yesterday entitled “Buy, buy Baby” that talks about this, I’ll keep you posted once I finish it.
Until then, I plan to enjoy my pregnancy and my free time before I can no longer spend it as I selfishly wish!

PS: Let me know if you happen to be pregnant too :)

Not again!!

I hate that I have to write about this whenever spring comes fooling around.
- Get back on shape, the spring yells at me, I am coming, and before you know it, my summer friend will be here...what are you going to do then, Hein? What will you do?
- Ahh..But I am not too bad…I am still under 64 kilos, I have got some belly this year, but it will go away…eventually..
- Oh, is that so? Last time I checked, there was no belly eraser. And you are not getting any younger neither. Soon, the mommy instinct is going to be calling, and I don’t want to see how “some belly” is turning to super belly.
- Spring, you are so rude. You are not even here yet and you’re already busting my b***.it’s okay, alright? I don’t even think I am going to to the beach this summer, I don’t need a bikini. I am fine with my clothes on! Hein!
- Alrighty Madame, But don’t go crying when in the summer your mister wonders who oversized you…
- Naahh, my mister likes the oversize. Actually, I think he’d rather have me this way!
- And you seriously believe this?
- No!
- So come on, that gym membership that is being paid for, it’s time to get it’s money worth, and that junk food, with all the sauce and cheese… it ‘s not healthy anyways!
- What if I just become Spanish?
- Spanish??
- Yes, Spanish. Spanish women don’t seem to have a problem with their bodies no matter what it looks like, they just embrace it.
- No no honey. You got it all mixed up. It is the Spanish guys who don’t care what the body looks like as long as it’s female body.
- Aha. I see.
- Is your mister Spanish?
- No. Greek.
- Oh, so you better get firm then!
- I cant believe you are making me do this.
- You will be thanking me when you get that tiny bikini shaking at the beach.
- Yeah?
- Come on, just 2 kilos, that’s all you got to get off and then you can forget about it…until next year..
- Alright, you win!
- So I’ll see you…same time in a year.
- Yeah, but you know, after giving a thought, maybe I’ll just move…
- Move where?
- To the North Pole!

Desperate for a Belly Dance Costume

I have been looking a belly dance costume for more than 6 months now, but I just can’t seem to find one that matches my criteria; knowing that my criteria is quite simple: I am only looking for something that looks good and as authentic as possible and that’s under $200 (Because it’s not like I am going to wear it every day or wear it to work!).
But all I have been able to find for my budget are ugly ridiculous costumes (they are not even costumes; they look more like night gowns!). And all the nicest ones were priced over $395, which I am not willing to spend. I mean I love to belly dance, but that is not what I do for a living, I just doing for fun, so why should pay as much as a professional that is going he return on investment after maybe only one show!
I used to have two sexy beautiful costumes that my mom had got me from Egypt so I could wear for competitions. One was black with a hint of silver, and with openings on both sides. The other one was white and gold and so tight you could see exactly which body part is moving. But those I left back home, and the truth I don't think they would fit me anymore so I won't even bother asking my mother to bring them along when she is coming to visit!
I was even hoping that with the economy slowing down, maybe the sellers would lower their prices, but nope, they kept them the same if not higher. So does this mean that belly dancing is a booming sector???? Am I on the right career path?? Ahhh…
All I want is a nice costume for under $200… Is that too much to ask for??
So if you know of any website that sells some at a price I would approve of, let me know!

Looking Good is Good!

There is a huge controversy on the “Looking Good” subject. For some, looking good is a necessity, a goal, and that one has to keep working on. For others, it may be the most superficial act ever, as it encourages people to judge each other by the looks.
But the truth is, when you have never spoken to someone, the way they look like is the only image that can give you a first impression. This first impression may be wrong at times, but nonetheless, it does influence your perception of the person.
I personally believe that looking good is a good thing. I mean, looking clean and put together means that you take care of yourself, which means you believe you are worth being taken care of. I also think that staying fit, having nice outfits and paying attention to the way you present yourself is a pleasure most of the time.
Neglecting your appearance is not tolerable in my opinion. I do not agree with people who are just do not care and then use ready excuses to justify it, like saying that they don’t care what they look like. Everyone cares about their looks, but at some point, they just get busy and forget about it, which I think is normal if things are too busy or hard or whatever, but then don’t make it a habit. Wake up happy, put on clean matching clothes, brush your hair, put on some color on your face, look at yourself in the mirror and be happy with what you see, go out there and walk with your head up high…Nothing is worth it at the end, so spoil yourself and always thrive to maintain a positive image of you!

Aging!

That’s it! I am turning 25 in less than a week and I am getting old!!! Not only am I talking about being tired all the time, but also about the start-up wrinkle on my forehead… so I made up my mind and decided I am going to take better care of myself.
I am now officially a gym member, soon to become a healthy ( a picky and maybe organic) eater.
Exercise will be very good for me, helping me stay fit and energetic, especially since I belly dance less and less every month, so I thought that sticking with a workout routine would be more beneficial, especially that I will be going with mister…!
But when it comes to aging creams, I am not a big fan…. I don’t believe they work…I mean I have seen my mother and aunts buy all those expensive creams and NADA!! They stay the same and get more wrinkles and life goes on! So, as the smart that I am, I thought that instead of wasting money on useless creams, I’ll just save it and get Botox when I feel that I need it ( I am not a pro nor a con of cosmetic surgeries…I feel that if that’s you want to do, go for it, if not, that your body you are free to do whatever you want with it, right?)
And then, I don’t know why am I freaking out, I am so under 30 anyways, but I believe that the earlier you take care of yourself, the easier it becomes to maintain a healthy life style and the less painful aging becomes!

Teachings From a Dog

<img style="FLOAT: right; It is like once the 4Th of July is over, comes Halloween, comes Thanksgiving, comes Christmas, comes the New Year, comes Valentines…and so on…

We must really enjoy celebrating in the US!!

But I am only going to speak about Valentine this time, because I have decided to celebrate it this year. I usually do not care about Valentine that much, calling it commercial, fake...and all the blablabla… I used to be one of those people who say love should be celebrated every day, but then I thought about it, and you know what? It is hard to celebrate love every day when you are busy working, socializing, cleaning, cooking, and worrying about the bills… There are some days when you just don’t have the energy, nor the time to celebrate love. So then, what’s wrong with taking a day to remember that we love and that we are blessed to have someone who truly cares for us? So for all those who like me only need an excuse, Valentine is the perfect one.

And if you are planning to offer roses this valentine’s (If my wonderful mister is reading, I would like to tell him that I would love to get some surprise flowers at last!!), I have found some statements about the flowers’ language that I want to share with you:

- If you are offering less than 10 roses, offer them in odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9 )
- If you want to thank your other half, offer a dozen red roses. If you want to be a real sweetheart, offer 24.
- If you want to say I love you for the first time, offer 36 roses.

Now, just a small list of the significance of the most common Valentine’s Flowers:

- Red Roses: Passionate love
- Pink Roses: Promise to love, Tender Love
- Long Stem Roses: A new Born Love
- Orchids: Elegant and Mysterious Love
- Dahlia: Gratitude
- Jasmine: Joy, Sensuality
- Violet: Secret Love

If you want a complete list and more info, you can check 1800flowers website.

Until then, enjoy the company of your loved ones :)

2009 Ferrari F70

<img style="FLOAT: left; The truth is that when parents refuse to vaccine their kids because they are afraid they will catch autism, they take a bigger risk as the how much their kids are protected against malign diseases.
I do not have a full understanding of autism nor of vaccines, but I am going to search more in the matter and let you know about my findings.

Who Invented the First Swimming Pool? Who is the fattest person in the world? Etc…
Today, the question I typed is: who invented the swimming pool? I knew that Shasta Pools Invented my favorite pool ever, but I just wanted to know who started the pool fashion. It wasn’t easy to find a specific answer to the question.
On Wikipedia, they give a long narration about swimming competition, from the Greeks to the French, but nothing really specific to who invented the swimming Pool.
On Shasta Pools’ Website, they give a description of pools but no information about the history of swimming pools.
On Wiki answers it says that swimming polls go back to Roman times Pre 2,000 years.
So at the end, I couldn't really tell who invented the very first swimming pool, and then I found myself day dreaming again of a heated pool and spa from Shasta Pools…Haaaa!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thesnobattitude.blogspot.com/2009/01/who-invented-first-swimming-pool-all-i.html' title='Who Invented the First Swimming Pool? The book is entitled “What your money means: And how to use it well” By Frank J. Hanna.
The book’s title says it all: What does money mean to each one? Is it a mean or aim? What is to best way to spend it? Save or Invest? … And Frank Hanna knows what he is talking about, you might have heard of him from Frank Hanna Capital. Frank Hanna is the CEO of the company and also used to be a corporate attorney at Troutman Sanders. If you check YouTube, you can find some videos of his speeches about business and philanthropy.
His book speaks about money from a different perspective, not in the most common sense of how to use your money, but it is more about understanding money, its purpose and your particular logic and outlook towards money. The book answers questions such as “how much money enough?” (I didn’t even think that there is such thing as enough money!!!)
Hanna’s philosophical approach to the money topic gives it a refreshing twist that changes from the old money advice books. It makes you stop for a second and reflect on your spending tendency and financial mind-set from a different viewpoint. I ,for my part, realized that I was raised with the idea that saving for the rainy days is primary, whereas if I had been pushed to invest I could probably make my savings work for me. Another thing that I realized is that I often buy things that I want but don’t need!
So let’s just say that I have got my ROI with this book! Thank you Hanna!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thesnobattitude.blogspot.com/2009/01/what-your-money-means-by-frank-j-hanna.html' title='What Your Money Means by Frank J. I have never had until recently when a friend of ours told us about his tax struggle last year due to what he calls, “delinquent tax liabilities”.
As many of you know, I haven’t been living in the USA for so long, and so I am always interested in learning from people’s experiences to better understand how things are run in America. And it goes without saying that Taxes are for me a big mystery!
Anyhow, our friend, whose business wasn’t doing that great lately, basically owed more than he could pay for to the IRS, and a loan was no option as he couldn’t afford to get more debt, his business was barely breaking even and he and his family were mainly in quest of survival. His accountant thought the only way he could get rid of the levy the IRS had put on his accounts is to hire a tax lawyer. Our friend was kind of uncertain at first, as he couldn’t risk paying a lawyer with no guarantee that his situation would get better, but he didn’t have much of a choice, so he went on with the idea and got in touch with American Tax Relief, a company that specializes in resolving tax issues for businesses and individuals. The lawyer assigned to him told him about many available settlements available to repay the IRS that few people know about. That is to say, all the IRS wants is to get its money. So if that means getting it a bit at a time, or not getting any, they’d rather go with the first option.
Our friend’s lawyer from The American Tax Relief underwent mediation with the IRS and was able to lift up the levy, negotiate an adequate settlement plan and even decrease it by a couple thousands. So at the end, it saved more by hiring the lawyer from American Tax Relief and paying his dues, than it would have cost him to do it alone. As my mom used to use: getting help can be your best bargain!
I figured I’ll share the story with you too so you would know, just in case J

The Nachshon Draiman Example

I typically like to write about people I would take as an example in my search of the American dream. This week, I chose to talk about Nachshon Draiman, an entrepreneur that essentially cares for others.
When Nachshon Draiman flew from Israel to America, he was determined to reach his goals by keeping his options opened. After graduating with an educational foundation in psychology and social work as well as health administration, Nachshon Draiman saw an opportunity in the elderly long-term care. But instead of using it only to his own advantage, he actually truly cared for the elderly’s well being. Thus, Draiman started thinking of new ways to easing their lives and making them more enjoyable, his social working experience helped him perfectly recognize the elderly needs and find proper solutions to satisfy them.
He restructured and modernized many facilities in Illinois and built himself a renowned name in managing facilities. The truth is that it was about time someone thinks of the elderly.
Draiman is an interesting example because he is a living proof that you can still make a decent living by helping others and enhancing their conditions. I have lived with my man in a condominium for over a year now and we really like it a lot.

The Design, location, and structure of the place seduced us from the very first day we stepped in. However, the management is terrible. It seems to me like they don’t care about the properties as much as they care about how much they can get away with. I understand that the owners have many occupations and cannot always be there right when we need them, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that they have let me wait long enough for things to deteriorate.

I only wish if they have had heard of Tim Arel. We would have both been very happy!

Tim Arel is a property management specialist that works exactly on avoiding this kind of situations, his job consists on using every single skill and knowledge he has about property management to satisfy his clients, who can in turn satisfy their clients.

I think I might just slip a paper with North Point and Tim Arel’s contact information to the management next time I meet them for a settlement!

Breaking the antibiotic habit

It has been a long time that I haven’t spoken about any of the books I read. The truth is that it took me that long to finish my last one, entitled “Breaking the Antibiotic Habit” by Paul Offit, Bonnie Fass-Offit and Louis M. Bell.

If you look up Paul Offit on Wikepedia, you will find that he is described as “a pediatrician specializing in infectious diseases, an internationally known expert on vaccines, immunology, and virology, the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.”

So coming from an expert such as Paul Offit, the book constitutes a reference for parents desiring to protect their children and even themselves against coughs, colds, and other diseases that can be more severe. I was interested in reading the book because I seriously hate taking pills. I just don’t like medication. I prefer natural remedies, even vaccines over taking pills!!! And after reading the book, I would recommend it to all those who are concerned about their health and well being.

Paul Offit was very much affected by a surgery he had as a child, which made him sensitive to the sufferings of ill kids and also grown-ups. He advices about efficient ways to keep one’s health at its best. Offit also received many awards, one of which is the J. Edmund Bradley Prize for Excellence in Pediatrics from the University of Maryland Medical School.

Although the book was published in 1999, it still holds a lot of advices and explanations we could benefit from in today’s pill oriented society.

I wanna win too!!

I am so happy for my sister Monica who won a 3 day/2 night getaway to Las Vegas where she can stay at Tahiti Village throughout Consolidated Resorts. She has been told that she can choose one person to accompany her, but I am quite sure that this person won’t be me, but rather her fiancé! Which I understand since if I was in her shoes, I would also probably chose a romantic getaway over a girly one!

So when representatives from Consolidated Resorts called her earlier this afternoon to let her know that she had won, she asked me to check them out, just so she can have an idea where she is heading to as well as what to expect. I then asked a friend, who happens to work for a travel agency, if he has any knowledge of Consolidated Resorts and Tahiti Village. He did a quick search and called me back saying that Consolidated Resorts was a well known organization in the travel and tourism industry, that offers vacation ownership, he also assured me that the Tahiti Village was ideal for romantic escapes since it is secluded resort with magnificent views and excellent service. He also sent me a link via the Consolidated Resort’s Web site, on which you can actually take a virtual tour of the hotel; and now I envy her Fiancé! (No, I am just kidding, I am very happy for them).

She didn’t tell her fiancé yet as she wants to surprise him on Christmas, and I guess he will be enchanted. I am also going to surprise my man with my plan to take him for a long ride to Canada next month, too bad Consolidated Resorts won’t be calling us!

Seriously, we rarely win when it comes to luck (Not even on scratch tickets); I guess we are just not that lucky! We are lucky enough though to be able to go away! She wanted us to see how her house turned out after a semester of construction. The truth is, I was stunned by the transformation, and it looked as if she moved to a completely different house, newer, prettier,… simply superb!
She didn’t just redo a room or two, but the whole house, from the porch to the garage. While I was seduced by her newly designed spacious kitchen, with all its brand new appliances and rustic cabinets, it was mainly the swimming pool that got my attention.
When I last visited her, she used to have what you would describe as your average size, average quality and design swimming pool, but now, she has a larger custom made pool, surrounded with gorgeous eye-catching mountain rocks that give the impression of a water fall. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. All I wanted was to take a forever swim in that pool, either that or take it home with me. When I asked her where she came up with the design of the pool, she said that she didn’t do anything, she contacted Shasta Pools and they took care of the project from design to construction. They even work the project plan in accordance with your budget so that you are sure you won’t end up spending more than you wish.
Even when I went back to my “Pool less” home, I couldn’t stop thinking of her pool, so I went on the web to check out Shasta Pools’ website, and I was surprised to know that they have been in business since 1968. They even have a cool Interactive Pool Gallery feature on the website that makes it easy to envision the pool you would want and offer project financing.
Now I can’t wait to move to a bigger house this way I can have Shasta Pools work a pool miracle for me too!

NETPOP Your Popcorn

Yesterday we decide to have a calm movie night. We got 3 movies ( we never get only one in case it is bad), Coke, Popcorn and stuff..

But I was looking for the last baby popcorn inside the bag, I wondered if a movie night is still a movie night without popcorn?

I wrote a post about chocolate not too long ago, and so you might guess that my favorite popcorn is the one napped with chocolate… and caramel. I also tried it once with salad dressing powder and it was really good. The only popcorn I don’t really like is butter popcorn!

The question is why do we almost like popcorn, maybe it is because it takes us back to when we were kids. Don’t all kids love popcorn??

I remember that I used to try popcorn with almost everything when I was little, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, jelly, cinnamon, vanilla, ice cream (I still love it with ice-cream!), milk and even coke (yes dipped in the Coke)….

And then I grew up, and came to America and discovered THE POPCORN FACTORY! YUMMY! Usually people would go on the website to order popcorn for someone as a gift, but I am sure most of them offer the delicious popcorns to themselves, just as I do! It is a popcorn feast, with every single flavor you can imagine. Try the double cheese or the peanut butter chocolate, hmm…and you know what’s better than the popcorn itself, its price!

Seriously, I love the web! Even the popcorn now is delivered to your door… I had expected it to be dry or tasteless but I was agreeably surprised!

You ought to try it, especially if you are expecting friends for a poker or cards party, you are sure to wow them!

So buying your popcorn on-line is definitely standing out!

Merci Pour le Chocolat :)

Are you a chocolate person?

Personally, I become one on occasions, when I from time to time crave a big bite of chocolate, dark, white, with flavors… You name it! It often conflates with the religious practice known as divination.”

If you read a little a bit more, you will find that “In African society, many people seek out diviners on a regular basis”. I am not sure if that goes for all africans, but I am certainely one of those who seeks it regurlary. I don’t mean every week, but just before I make an important decision, commit to something when I am not sure about its outcomes.

I am not saying that I believe it one hundred percent but it just makes me a bit confident to make that step if I originaly liked the idea, or withdraw it. I sometimes read my own cards at home, but I am not a professional, so I would rather usualy have my mom go read for me ( yes everything is possible with reading the cards).

There was one time when I vacationed in mauritania ad had a young lady read my future in shells!!!!! I was like what is that, shells ??!!!! But of course she got it all wrong!!! So I still stick by the cards.

What bothers me the most about card reading is that I really enjoy it and so I almost feel bad afterwards because I know I shouldn’t be reading them, I mean religion wise it’s not so good to know what God doesn’t want to know. But yeah, I almost always think of it afterwards, when it’s a bit too late. I also always make myself swear that I am not reading them again, but I just fall for it again, especially since the woman that reads the cards is almost always right on the money!
What about you? I would love to hear your story if you ever had your cards read and it turned out true???? Tell where, when and how ? Alone in front of the mirrors, a bit of foundation here, a bit of blush there, a dark khol to outline the eye, a hint of gloss to make lips glossy…

Every single woman knows what it is like to face the mirror, face the reality, face that face that only she knows how it looks without the make up mask.

But when and why did the words woman and make up relate? Don’t get me wrong, I love my make up, I even find it relaxing when I am tense. My point is that seduction and beauty are tightly linked, and we, women know that when facing the mirror. Sure, some are going to say that this isn’t true, that women don’t dress up and stuff for other people but for themselves, but is it really true?? Then show me that one woman who for a date would put the first shirt she reaches on her closet, the same pants she was wearing the day before, take a look at the mirror and go “ ah, I look pretty good!”

I was thinking that by the time I’ll be 50, I’d have spent half a life in front of my mirror. Thinking that during all that time I could have probably learned how to speak, read and write Greek!!! But no! I love my make up ritual. Starting with the smoky eyes down to the glossy lips. It is the make up power. I am unable to dress up, do my hair or whatever until my face is polished. Except on the weekend, I like to let it breathe!
But what I still don’t get is why people say that you have to suffer to be beautiful. I think it’s fun!!

Everybody loves (or hates) Haifa Wahbi.....!

Haifa, Haifa, Haifa.....

Haifa is a Lebanese singer, or I should probably say the most attractive singer in Lebanon. Her voice is average, but her looks and presence are WOW.

Even though I think she is really beautiful, what I like most about her is that she is the kind of people you either love or hate. No "in between" with her. I like the fact that she gives herself the freedom to speak her mind and show her assets in a "Taboo" environment that is the middle east. I love that in one of her interviews, while a reporter was bugging her albums were mainly sold because of her attractiveness rather than her voice, she simply said," Alright, I am beautiful, and it's a good for me, people like it, they buy my album, so what?"

I like they she doesn't care what magazines write about her because she knows that will eventually come asking her for a cover to boost their sales. I like that she is the ambassador of the organization against HIV in the middle east. I too, like how she looks and wish if I could look as good as her when I am 38.

So what side am I, the side that loves. I love Haifa. I think she is the new snob in the middle east. If you don't like her, don't copy her :)

Belly Dance: Authentication

For those who don't know it yet, I am a big fan of Belly Dance, that I consider as the most erotic dance ever. If well mastered, it can make you feel as an enchantress and boost your confidence and your body's resistance.

I have been observing a wide interest in belly dance all over the world, women from Paris, Russia, Brazil, Canada, India...etc... are taking belly dance classes and even in some cases making it a full time job. I have seen some Russian, polish and Brazilian belly dancers perform, and I have to say that they are good at it.

Good but not excellent. That has nothing to do with their moves and techniques. The problem comes mostly from their lack of expression, and who ever claims to know about belly dance knows that facial and body expressions account for 50% of the performance! But if you don't understand the lyrics ( mostly in Arabic, sometimes in Greek and Turkish) you cannot embody the feelings they represents. So many times you will see a Brazilian dancing energetically and happily on a sad music, while a native belly dancer will twist her body as slowly as possible to give a physical representation of the music, and be energetic and happy when the drum is joyful.

The advantage native belly dancers have over their peers is their understanding of the drum. They can identify its moods, its tones, and make their bodies melt with its sounds so that it becomes as if the body is under the drum's spell. I don't know what are your thoughts about the subject, but I believe that an Arab belly dancers, dancing on Arabic music, even if she is not a professional, will dance more passionately than a professional Sao Paulo dancer! Just as normal as an Arab belly dancer will be less passionate when it comes to samba!

It is just a matter of eye contact, hand gestures, facial expressions that understand the song's message and express it wonderfully.

Body of lies!!

What an interesting title ( I didn't say movie...I thought the story was Deja Vu...I was however expecting a lot more....)

Anyway, back in November 2007, when my mom told me that Leonardo was shooting on the main street of my original city, Rabat-Morocco, causing thus a big hullaaaa in traffic, I couldn't wait for the movie to come out so I can see what my city had come to look like! I drove on that area so many times, I know every sign on its streets!!

A little later, it's Turkey's Airport, which is no other than the Casablanca Airport, in Morocco....Then, back to the Moroccan airport but this time saying it's Jordan's airport and showing it from another entrance! Oh and I forgot about Palestine's camps which in fact are Morocco's less fortunate Moroccan neighborhoods....

So, Body of Lies.... it truly is!

Guys, Cars and women!

I have come to understand the relationship between, men, cars and women…

All men like nice cars and nice women.

And all women like nice guys and nice cars.

However, not all guys have nice cars and date beautiful, smart women. By the same logic, not all women find nice guys who drive nice cars.

And then, you have those guys who actually do drive nice and luxurious cars. Those fall in two categories, the nice guys and the bad guys. How do you differentiate the two? Easy… the bad boys are the ones whose cars are always shining, who yell when you touch their cars, smoke in their car, drink, eat or even sit in their car. They take really good care of their cars, their looks, and they are especially committed to finding the matching woman for the ride. Not matching to them that is, but to the car!

The nice guys on the other hand, take care of their cars too, of their looks (but they don’t mind the casual look on the week-end, and don’t mind leaving in their PJ’s to get the morning coffee or late night beer!), but most of all, they take care of the woman that rides with them. She does have to be a minimum attractive (the woman can in no way be less attractive than the car).

I remember my high-school days, the girls and me used to love play-guess who is who, who is a serial-dater, and a one-woman-committed. For that, the car provided all the information we needed! I also always happened to be with boys who drive nice cars (and I swear I almost found out that they have a nice car afterwards!), thus my only wish was that the boy wouldn’t turn out to be a bad car owner! But unfortunately, most of them were!

I don’t even know what am I talking about? What am I even writing this post? The woman to be “relooked” was the same weight, height, and stature as me. And the advice given to her was to try high waist pants, skirts…

So yesterday I took my mister by the hand and we went to the mall in the search for the perfect high waist for me. My intentions were only to try it on (but I ended up getting 3 pants, 2 skirts, 1 bag, 1 large belt, and couple shirts). Anyway, I tried at first high waist skirt, black (a classic) with a really gorgeous white shirt and I was blown away. Even my mister just stared at me and said, “ Get it”. As I tried the other high waist items, he kept saying, “ Get it, get it, and get it”.

It looks so sophisticated when worn with a classy shirt and of course a nice pair of heels (I love heels and shoes in general, but that’s another story). Not only did the skirt look really good on me, but it also kept its promise, making my curvy body look irresistible and elongated.
I cannot wait to wear it!

The Warrior Of The Light

"The Warrior of the light knows the importance of intuition.

In the midst of battle, he does not have time to think about the enemy's blows, so he uses his instinct and obeys his angel.

In times of peace, he deciphers the signs that God sends him.

People say; He is mad.

Or; He lives in a fantasy world.

Or even; How can he possibly believe in such illogical things?

But the warrior knows that intuition is God's Language and he continues listening to the wind and talking to the stars."

" Warrior of the Light" by Paulo Coelho.

Another great book from Paulo that I go back to whenever I feel down.

Wanna join me??? I went on the scale this morning...145lbs... I then checked what would be the healthiest weight for me, 5ft4', and it is 126lbs....which means I have 19lbs to lose.

But I have plenty of time to do it slowly and surely. So as I don't feel like cooking today, I was thinking about going to GNC get those food supplements protein and start with those for 1 or 2 days to help me start the process by quickly loosing 2 to 3 lbs ( I have tried them before, they smell really good when you prepare them, but they taste like sh***, but they work!!!). I am not saying that I have never lied, I had eventually, but I am a terrible liar. It's like I would lie to you, but few hours later, or at most, a day later, I'd come to you and confess my lie!

I understand if someone is forced to lie in a situation of death and life, but lie for something stupid or not at all important, why?

Some justify it by saying they want to avoid making the person angry, but isn't better you make the person angry because he/she knows the truth, or driving them nuts because 1) you lied 2) you misused their trust.

I just will never tolerate lies, and for me there is no such things as a small lie. If you lie small lies, you will eventually come up with bigger ones. Specially, in a relationship or partnership that above all should be based on trust and honesty. If you break that once, twice,...how could there be any trust?!

When you lie, not only you make the person you lied resent you and lose trust in you, and push her/him to verify everything you say and look around behind your back ( because they are afraid you might be hiding or not saying everything) but you also lose trust in you and in those around you. You feel guilty for the lies you said, and then you try finding bad things in people you deal with to justify yourself, and then you start doubting them too, because in your mind, if you could lie to them, then perhaps they could do the same too.

It is just a nightmare, whether you are caught in your lies or whether you catch the lies of someone else.

So let's just not lie, let's try!

Belly Dance is the new snob!

Do you know any woman who does not wish to preserve her beauty as long as possible, the agility of her body, the charm of her skin and the grace of her movements? I didn't think so!

For this purpose, women seek gyms, diets and all sorts of exhausting practices. Of course exercise is an excellent way to stay in shape but it remain wearying and tiring. But several thousands of years ago, in the East, women found a way to preserve youth and beauty, combining pleasure and exercise. Belly Dance.

Not only does Belly dance reshape a woman's body but it also reshapes her mind and boosts her confidence.

Belly dance is considered a complete workout as all muscles are stimulated during the dance, and believe it or not, it is the easiest workout as well. In fact, most dances (Tango, samba...) require the person to stop performing after a certain age, except for belly dance. Actually, it is said that the older the woman, the better her belly dancing technique. As she grows older, the woman is more likely to understand herself and emotions better , and so it shows in her dance. When the drum is sad, her hips will follow, when it is happy, her hips will jump of joy from side to side. Even doctors agree that belly dance is perfect for pregnant woman because it makes your back and legs stronger.

You don't need to be thin to be attractive, in fact the more curvier you are, the more your dance will be attractive. After a certain time of dancing, you will start to see your body taking a whole new shape, empty at the stomach level and curvy just where it needed to be. Even at times when you are not practicing, people will start to complement you for your gracious walk. You don't need much for that, a long skirt, a veil to tie around you hips, Arabic music ( you can download it-or i can send you some) and if you cannot use the services of a pro, then just get a learning CD ( some are really good) and start dancing your way to sexiness.

I know for sure you will get addicted to it, especially when you notice this different look in your man's eye. I have been doing it for 10 years, and if one day goes by and i don't move, i miss it.

Try it, it won't hurt, it will only help.

The Alchemist

" -'Don't think about what you have left behind' the alchemist said to the boy as they began to ride across the sands of the desert. I saw a nutritionist, went to the gym, lost the weight, and gained it back…
It wasn’t until a guy I had a crush on, rejected me because of my stature that I lost it for good. I still hate the guy, but I am so thankful that my haters brought me results. So my secret is challenge. I am a very competitive person, and my ego is HUGE. I am smart, kind, and resourceful. Thus, I thought to myself, why do I let my weight issues prevent me from reaching my full potential?
Looks matter. It’s a fact. So I just trained myself to not think about eating and think more about being healthy. That said, I started bringing my home prepared lunch with me to work, went to the gym three time a week, exercised at home 30 minutes everyday, belly danced when I was bored, drank tones of tea to substitute for the coca-cola (I was so addicted to it!!!). After a month, I had lost some pounds but not all, but I started to feel much healthier and stronger because I had kept my resolutions. From then, it just went on easy. It was as if my mind controlled my body and appetite.
I had heard somewhere that we are made of habits. It is hard to get rid of bad habits, but it is even harder to get used to new ones. But when you are really tired of being where you are – the simpatico overweight friend- you just force yourself to adopt it, and the more you think of where and how you want be, the easier you get there. So my advice, think healthy not thin. Think I will instead of I can and just start now, don’t postpone. Life doesn’t wait, why should you?
I set my mind to it. The only help I asked for and I got, was from within. And in no time, only three to four months I dropped 45 pounds. Yes, I reached 120 Lbs and never gained a single pound back because I become healthy. I don’t think of pounds, I think of my heart – is it strong enough? My muscles, are they physically powerful? When I eat, I am careful, not because I am concerned about the calories, but because I know that it will show on my skin and believe it or not, on my mental. I know I will feel much energetic if I don’t eat at night and I know my confidence gets a boost when I my stomach is not ready to explode. That is just how I did it. But it got me there. Now, I am complimented for my shape, and people even say about that I am lucky to eat what I want and stay in shape. It truly just what you want to do with your body, after all, it is your body, if you cant control it, nobody and no magic pill will!
